These are the first medicine cabinets my husband and I have ever had (all our previous houses had full-wall bathroom mirrors). Overall very happy with the purchase. We love the design, spaciousness, and the groove along the side/bottom corner so you can minimize fingerprints every time you open or close. They were well-packaged and were undamaged upon receipt, even though (surprisingly) they were shipped via FedEx and were extremely heavy for the driver to handle. We like the gentle closure, the glass shelves, the mirrored back panel, the interior lights, and the LED lighting (color selection, brightness adjustment, and especially the nightlight that comes on automatically but can be turned off with a hidden toggle switch). Our bathroom doesn't really have a problem with steam so we probably won't use the defog feature. Really love the acrylic organizing bins that were included Here are our suggestions for changes to future models:
1. One of our cabinets was defective in terms of the motion sensing eye inside - the interior light comes on correctly when the door is opened, turns off when the door is about 80% closed, then comes back on again when the door is fully closed (the light shining inside seeps out the bottom a little). My contractor believes that the eye sensor is either defective or possibly just misaligned, and the reflection of the mirrored interior is causing the light to turn on when the door is closed. He put a piece of painters tape on the inside of the door opposite the eye, and that seems to have done the trick, but I would love to be able to fix the problem and remove that piece of blue tape at some point. Uninstalling the cabinet and replacing with an entirely new unit is not an option at this point - it's fully installed.
2. I second the other reviewers' comments about moving the electric plugs to the lower part of the cabinet and not at the top. Unfortunately, the top shelf is way too high to store daily use/quick grab items like a toothbrush, electric razor, etc. so I guess we won't be able to use them after all, and will have to keep our toothbrushes on the countertop. Disappointed that we can't at least run the cord up to the outlet behind the shelves.
3. If there is a way to turn off ALL the lights (including the blue button lights) at night, I would like to know what it is. The instructions don't provide that info, and unfortunately the blue lights are keeping us awake at night, necessitating shutting our bathroom door to return our bedroom to darkness. We read about turning off the clock illumination, thank goodness (it's REALLY bright), but wish we could turn off the blue button lights as well.
4. I second another customer's comment about how you should ask whether the cabinet is intended for recessed or surface installation, and only include the side mirror panels for surface mount orders. I now have to figure out what to do with the side mirror panels x4, when I would have preferred the option to save that money spent on including them for my recessed installation, or even have the option to include additional acrylic bins.
5. I wish the magnifying mirror and its lighted track were on the outer edge of the door; as it is placed now, I have to lean way in awkwardly to use it, and find myself just ignoring it and using the normal magnification inside of the door when I need to see close up.
6. I would have liked a notification that the delivery was going to be via FedEx, as well as that adult signature would be required. Or better yet, an option to choose the delivery method and signature release at the time of purchase. I had an appointment at the stated time of delivery, and I had to race home and just barely managed to catch the delivery driver before he pulled away.
